Four of the seven seats for the Twin Falls City Council were up for election last year.  This week the new council begin with the swearing in.  Ruth Pierce and Craig Hawkins were re-elected while Grayson Stone and Cherie Vollmer are new to the council.


As the new year begins, how did the 2023 housing market go in Idaho.  Most things that were expected didn’t happen.  Mortgage rates were supposed to drop.  They didn’t.  The market was supposed to pick up speed.  It didn’t   The number of homes sold is down double digits in Ada and Twin Falls Counties.


According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $3.17, which is a nickel less than a week ago, 39 cents less than a month ago, and 26 cents less than a year ago.  Meanwhile, the national average currently sits at $3.10.


The Idaho Legislature will be open for business starting next Monday.  For the 67th session, this year is an election year so some say to expect business will be wrapped up by March 31st so those seeking re-election can begin their campaign season which starts with the May 21st primary.


New laws for the new year in Idaho.  Students can no longer use student Id’s to vote.  Gender affirming care for minors was blocked by a federal judge.  The clean slate act for low level offenders means a fresh start and it’s mandatory for everyone enrolled into the Nutrition program known as SNAP must be working if they are able. 


More people are visiting the area ski resorts and experts say you should expect more in the coming year.  The National Ski Areas Association estimates more than 65 million people traveled to the country’s six regional skiing areas during last year’s skiing and snowboarding season. This marks a 6.6% increase from the previous winter season. 


A Boise man is in custody after he was charged with pointing a gun at three teenagers who

were toilet papering his home Monday.  Police say they were called to the scene just after 10 pm.  25 year old Omar Al Azzawi  was charged with three felony counts of aggravated assault.  Al Azzawi said the gun was not loaded.
