The Ada county sheriff’s office is investigating a shooting that happened yesterday morning.  Authorities say 37 year old Jeremiah Gaver is dead.  He attempted to run from officers but not before stabbing two K-9 dogs who were badly injured. 

Jerome School Superintendent Dr. Patrick Charlton announced that he plans to retire in June.  The school board plans to utilize the Idaho School Boards Association to help find a new superintendent. 

A bill that would impose mandatory minimum sentences for people convicted of trafficking fentanyl is heading to the floor of the Idaho House of Representatives for a vote, where it already has the support to pass.   The Idaho Legislature’s House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee voted Tuesday to send House Bill 406 to the House floor.

​​An Idaho Republican is again working on legislation to change legal definitions of “sex” under Idaho code.  According to the legislation, gender would be considered a synonym for sex rather than gender identity. The legislation would also add definitions of boy, father, female, girl, male and mother into Idaho Code.

Maegan Hanson became a librarian because of her love of reading. Her favorite part of her job is helping people discover their next favorite book.   Hanson is the Buhl Public Library director, doubling as its children’s librarian. But in her one year serving as library director, she said she regularly considers leaving the profession because of the stress.  She said that legislation establishing an adults only section would be impractical in her small, one-room library.

The Jerome school district will not implement a 4 day week.  After consideration Superintendent Pat Charlton recommended the school district remain 5 days a week.  Heritage charter school will continue with a 4 day schedule.

Yesterday, Kevin Kuintzle appeared in a Jerome courtroom.  He is charged with the Murder of 84 year old Bill Eakin last September.  His next court hearing is set for March 13th at 2 pm.  The other suspect Erika Brock is currently in a treatment program in Boise.
