Legislation introduced in Idaho could put a halt to the planned sale of the old ITD building in Boise. The transportation headquarters from 1961 until the move to the former HP campus in West Boise was set for demolition and sale for redevelopment. Now, the sale could be nixed and if speaker of the house Mike Moyle and Representative Britt Raybould have their way, it will be remodeled and kept in state possession.
The Idaho Transportation Department is preparing for lane closures on the Perrine Bridge beginning Sunday which are expected to remain in place until Wednesday. Only one lane in one direction will be closed at a time. Crews will repair expansion joints that allow the bridge to expand and contract with the weather. This work is a part of ongoing maintenance to extend the life of the Perrine Bridge. Repairs are expected to continue into the spring.
The ITD is reminding motorists that they are beginning work on the south Jerome interchange. Soon the signs will be going up to redirect traffic. Motorists should expect road closures, traffic shits and ramp changes.

Despite fervent opposition from school trustees, administrators and teachers as well as concern from law enforcement officials, Idaho Republicans advanced a bill that would grant school employees the right to carry guns in classrooms and give them legal immunity if they engage in a gunfight on campus. The NRA backed legislation would grant school employees the right to carry guns on public school campuses, as long as they have an enhanced concealed weapon permit.
A Marsing woman was sentenced to up to 5 years in prison for Insurance fraud. Lanae Lynn Perez claimed insurance after a vehicle crash. She obtained insurance after the accident and attempted to alter the time.
