Twin Falls city council members voted to name Ruth Pierce as the mayor for a second term. The vote was five to seven.
A woman was charged with felony drug trafficking after Twin Falls deputies found large quantities of methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl pills and cash in her vehicle as she drove north on U.S. Highway 93. 31 year old Jessica Lundy was pulled over for driving erratically. They found nearly a pound of meth, along with fentanyl and Heroin along with marijuana.
Idaho officials including Governor Brad Little said more students than expected are applying for the Idaho LAUNCH program. The program, passed last legislative session, offers graduating high school students looking to enter a high-demand industry with 50 or more annual job openings, either 80% of their tuition or up to $8,000 in grants. Initially they thought about 7 to 9,000 seniors would apply.
The 2024 Idaho legislative session begins Monday at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise, where Republican legislators will look to expand the Idaho Legislature’s power and influence through budgetary changes and a slew of election year policy bills. Although there is no time limit for the annual legislative session, legislators will spend the next 70 to 90 days setting each element of the fiscal year 2025 state budget and considering new bills and administrative rules.
Police say a two car crash along Highway 75 in Lincoln County just after noon yesterday claimed the life of a 68 year old Hailey man. The head on crash sent the other driver, a 59 year old Ketchum man, to the hospital.
Two ISP Troopers were injured when his car was struck by another vehicle just after 6 last night. It happened in Power County. The trooper was pursuing a vehicle that fled from a traffic stop on I-86. The caravan was traveling the wrong way when the 35 year old Pocatello woman slammed head on into the trooper. The driver and two ISP troopers were transported to a local hospital.
