According to the Idaho Department of Labor, the state’s 2023 population growth was more than double the national average of 0.5%.   In July 2023, the U.S. Census estimated Idaho had a population of 1,964,726 a 1.3% increase from the same time in 2022.   In 2023, 78% of Idaho’s growth was from people moving to the Gem State from other places 82% domestic and 18% international. In 2022, international migration to Idaho was just 5%.


Idaho State Police is cracking down on mobile bars.  Mobile bar carts that serve beer and wine at special events have grown in popularity recently.  Without a liquor license and catering permit, it's a felony to operate a mobile bar.  At least one person has recently been arrested.


Idaho Governor Brad Little will deliver is 2024 state of the state and Budget address this afternoon at 1.  It will be made in the Idaho House Chambers. 


A Boise couple says they sold their new home after they were told they couldn’t display their Black lives matter flag.  Somi and Jenna Ekwealor say they purchased their first home in the Southwest Boise Charter Pointe subdivision.  When they displayed the flag, The Home Owners Association told them they were in violation of their contract.  The family contends other flags continue to fly and feel they were discriminated. 


An Elmore County privately-owned landfill will remain closed after a federal judge threw out the company’s lawsuit against the county for shutting it down last year.  In December, Idaho Regional Waste Services filed a suit in Idaho Federal District Court against Elmore County for revoking its conditional use permit to operate the Simco Road Regional Landfill after a long-running dispute over the disposal of tires at the site.

The $50 million “parental choice tax credit” program could be re-introduced this legislative session.   It seeks to open up public funds for private education.


Police in Idaho are warning the public that an armed and dangerous individual is driving around in an SUV impersonating a law enforcement officer and pulling over motorists.  The imposter struck on Saturday night in Pocatello. Earlier on Saturday Chubbuck police said the suspect has been pulling over motorists in Chubbuck.
