As we come on the air this morning the National Weather Service has issued 2 winter weather advisories for the area. Snow is expected with up to 14 inches in higher elevations through tomorrow morning in the areas of Stanley, Ketchum, Sun Valley and Galena. Another advisory is in place until midnight tonight for the West Central and Boise Mountains above 5500 feet with up to 9 inches of snow possible.
Following the transition to a new statewide business system called Luma, Idaho state officials delivered the first official revenue report of the 2024 fiscal year that began July 1. The report showed state revenues have come in $38.8 million below the predictions year-to-date.
For the seventh consecutive year, workers’ compensation rates are decreasing. The National Council on Compensation Insurance’s rate filing for 2024 shows a 12.6% reduction in workers’ compensation rates. The reduction marks the seventh year in a row that rates have trended downward.
Idaho’s plan for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure has been approved. That means the state will announce the first request for proposals in Bliss, Pocatello or Lewiston, with two of these locations selected for development.
Voters in Jerome county will decide on the fate of a recreation or senior center for the Eden and Hazelton area. Earlier Jerome county gave the Valley recreation district 100-thousand dollars in funding to look into bringing a facility to the communities. A 10 million dollar bond would include a building that would include an indoor track, gym, weight center and multipurpose room.
Caldwell police have a brand new unit that involves 6 to 7 officers riding horseback. Chief Rex Ingram says they created the Caldwell Police Mounted Foundation, where people or businesses can donate funds to help pay for hay, tack, or even vet visits for the horses. The Chief said they want to make sure both horses and riders are certified and clear to patrol. Depending on the number of donations they receive, Chief Ingram hopes to be ready for the 100th anniversary of the Caldwell Night Rodeo.
