A critical incident task force has been called in to investigate an accident that claimed the life of a 41 year old female from Malta. Idaho state police say a trooper was responding to assist a motorist on state highway 81 in Cassia County late Wednesday when he struck the woman who was in the roadway. He stopped and began administrating CPR until EMS workers arrived. She died at the scene. The Twin Falls county sheriffs office is taking the lead in the investigation. The findings will be reviewed by the local prosecutors office.


Two teens died after the car they were in failed to stop at a stop sign Friday afternoon. Police say the accident happened at the intersection of U.S. 26 and 2000 East in Gooding County. The teens were struck by another vehicle driven by a 50 year old man from Wendell. That car went off the road and struck a backhoe. Two others involved in the accident were taken to a nearby hospital. Another teen was transported by air ambulance.


There are roughly 2.55 million heads of cattle in Idaho, and a recent study revealed that they can keep on grazing on federal lands. Research from a 10-year University of Idaho study showed that cattle grazing on federal land won’t negatively affect sage grouse nesting success, and the coexistence of the animals could have benefits.


The Environmental Protection Agency this week gave two Idaho organizations a combined $770,000 to fulfill projects promoting environmental justice. The Duck Valley Indian Reservation received $435,000 to adapt the National Incident Management System for emergency response to achieve input on mining. The Upper Snake River Tribes Foundation, Boise recieved $335,000 for its Tribal Youth Environmental Justice and Climate Leadership Program.


A former funeral director from Pocatello could spend over 200 years in prison following 22 felony charges including state tax evasion, perjury, forging public records, computer fraud and grand theft. 49 year old Lance Peck owned the Downard Funeral Home.
