Police say a 35 year old Rupert man died following a crash just south of the Hansen Bridge last night. The accident just after 6, happened when the Rupert Man did a U turn and struck a pickup driven by a 37 year old Twin Falls man. The road was blocked till about midnight while crews cleared the scene.

Area residents had the opportunity to voice their opinion to the Idaho Public utilities commission concerning Idaho Power’s application to make changes to onsite and self-generation tariffs. The company is proposing to reduce the amount paid. The media was not allowed to attend so it’s not known what comments were said.

Voters denied the state’s largest education funding asks on Tuesday, putting the kibosh on a combined $112.8 million for bonds in Shelley and Pocatello. Pocatello’s $45 million bond — which would have funded enhancements at two high schools, including one damaged by a fire last spring — garnered just 56% support. And only 48% of voters supported Shelley’s $67.8 million bond, which would have funded a new high school. Meanwhile, the 2 year 2.25 million dollar per year supplemental levy in Minidoka passed as well as the Kimberly 2 year 800-thousaand dollar per year levy.

The Bureau of Land Management seeks public comment on a proposal to collect day-use fees to improve the visitor experience at the Jump Creek Recreation Site, located seven miles southwest of Marsing. Recreation at the site, known for its 60-foot waterfall, has almost doubled over six-year’s.

The Idaho Ag Outlook Seminar will be face-to-face this year. The seminar, sponsored by the University of Idaho Extension, has been held online for the last two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but this year will be held at four locations, including the College of Southern Idaho’s Herrett Center in Twin Falls on Dec. 13.

Idaho's official 2023 Christmas tree will be cut from state property this year. The Blue Spruce is currently in front of the Idaho Department of Administration, which is behind the Statehouse. The tree will be cut on November 20th and moved to the front of the Statehouse. The official tree-lighting ceremony will take place on November 30, starting at 5 p.m.
