As we come on the air this morning we are following a reported shooting around 2 am at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise that involved a prisoner that was being treated at the facility. Unconfirmed reports say the gunman and prisoner escaped in a vehicle and may be traveling to Southern Idaho. It’s not known if there were any injuries from the shooting.
The former ISP trooper accused of killing his wife in 2021 was found guilty of second-degree murder. Daniel Howard was accused of killing Kendy Howard on Feb. 2, 2021. He was charged with the murder in April of 2023. After weeks of trial, the jury reached the verdict. While out on bond, Howard was arrested at the Spokane Airport where he claims he was returning a rental car with a friend.
Jury selection will began Monday for the murder trial of Chad Daybell. It’s not known how many will receive jury questionnaires. The trial is expected to begin 9 am Monday April 1st. Lori Vallow Daybell was found guilty of the same crimes during her murder trial that began on April 1st of last year in the same courtroom.
A bill that would require people who are paid to gather signatures for a ballot initiative or referendum to say so is heading to the floor of the Idaho House of Representatives for a vote. Yesterday, the Idaho House State Affairs Committee voted to send Senate Bill 1377 to the floor with a recommendation to pass it.
On May 21, Blaine County voters will decide the fate of a supplemental levy for their school district. Blaine County School District board members approved a resolution for the $1.85 million levy. If passed, homeowners would pay $8.53 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value each year for two years.
The would-be buyers of the Idaho Transportation Department’s flooded former headquarters said they felt they had a deal with the state and are exploring legal action following a move by legislative budget writers to block the $51 million sale. The 45-acre campus is located 3311 State St. in Boise.
