The two men who were the subject of a statewide manhunt are behind bars this morning.  Yesterday afternoon around 2 Skylar Meade and Nicholas Umphenour were taken into custody at two separate locations in Twin Falls County.  One just east of the Curry Crossing and the other at a house in Filer.  The arrests followed a short vehicle pursuit. Early Wednesday morning Meade who had injured himself on purpose in the state prison was taken to St. Al’s in Boise.  When he was being escorted back, Umphenour opened fire at the hospital where 3 officers were injured.  Both suspects are associated with white supremacy.  Police say the two are als suspects in a double murder that occurred in Northern Idaho that are tied to the escape. 


The Idaho Legislature is requesting Office of Performance Evaluations investigate youth treatment homes.  In response to InvestigateWest reporting that uncovered allegations of child abuse and neglect at state-licensed facilities.


Library staff, board members and patrons testified at a Senate State Affairs Committee hearing this week to voice their opinions on the Legislature’s most recent library bill that would regulate materials for minors.  The committee will continue its discussion at a later time.

Motorists in Idaho will see an increase in troopers patrolling the states road.  The ISP said they will increase patrols through the end of the month as they target dangerous driving behaviors.


The Idaho State Tax Commission is urging folks who get an identity verification letter from them to take the requested action.  The letters are a part of the commission's fraud detection. Many victims don't know someone has filed a phony tax return on their behalf until they get a letter. If you get a letter and you have filed a return, the commission says you should follow the instructions and confirm your identity, then the processing of the refund will continue. If you get a letter and didn't file a return, you could be a victim of identity theft.
