A valve accidentally left open is being blamed for a 10-thousand gallon above ground diesel spill over the weekend.  It happened Saturday afternoon and contaminated three miles of Mason creek in Nampa.  That’s a 18 mile tributary to the Boise river.  A safety system that would have prevented the leak failed. 


Within the span of a few minutes, two big bills passed at the Idaho Statehouse last week, moving the 2024 session out of neutral, and maybe closer to conclusion.  A deeply divided House narrowly passed a spending bill to fund Idaho Launch a brand-new but popular grant program.  Then the Senate passed a bill to provide $1 billion for school facilities wrapped within an income tax cut and a spate of school policy changes.


As part of the construction of the City of Twin Falls Hankins Pressure Zone Project, Filer Ave. E from Hankins Road to Meadowview Ln. will be closed this week.  A new 12 inch water line is being installed.  Traffic will detour to Stadium Blvd.


Automobile gas prices are soaring upward.  According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $3.51, which is 16 cents higher than a week ago and 42 cents higher than a month ago. 


Idaho Democrats called on Republican legislators on Friday to introduce legislation that would stop the departure of OB-GYNs, create health exceptions for pregnant women in the state’s abortion ban, and protect access to in vitro fertilization services.  Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022, Idaho, like 13 other states across the country, implemented a near-total ban on abortions.


Idaho Department of Corrections is looking for a woman who left her community job. Whitney Jo Pattee was last seen Sunday, Mar. 24 at 4:10 p.m. at her job in downtown Boise.  She was up for parole in July 2024. She has been convicted in the past of possession and delivery of a controlled substance.
