Local Sports 5/13/24


Preparing for state games.  Both High School varsity Baseball and Softball tournament schedules are set.  For baseball, six teams are headed to four tournaments.  In 4A action Twin Falls and Minico are heading to Vallivue for the first time since 2019.  Minico plays Moscow.  Twin Falls plays Bishop Kelly. 

In 3A play at Northwest Nazarene University Kimberly will play Marsh Valley in a state championship game rematch from last season. 

In 2A play in Pocatello, Wendell will play against Nampa Christian.

In1A games, Lighthouse will take on Clearwater Valley and Glenns Ferry will play Potlatch. 



For the softball games, in 4A games, Wood River will play Pocatello in Lake City.  Twin Falls Bruins will play the Blackfoot Broncos.

In 3A games, Kimberly will take on Timberlake.

In 2A play, Declo will play New Plymouth.

In 1A action Glenns Ferry will pay Idaho City. 



Three Boise State track and field student-athletes took went home with medalist honors to conclude the 2024 Mountain West Outdoor Championships, Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Stadium: Emily Jobes, Austen Apperson and Ollie Newman.  The top 24 declared relay teams will be accepted into the first round competitions for each relay event. The qualifying window closes for conference championship meets on Monday, May 13.



Boise State finished its season with a 6-3 loss to San Diego State in the final of the Mountain West Softball Championship, Saturday. Meanwhile, Taylor Caudill tied her season high with 11 strikeouts to lead Boise State past Nevada 4-1 in the losers' bracket final of the 2024 Mountain West Softball Championship at Dona Larsen Park, Friday.



The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team dominated USU Eastern 5-0 Friday in a loser-out game at the Region 18 Tournament but ran out of steam against Southern Nevada, falling 13-3 to end its season. CSI ends its season 31-25 overall and 13-16 in conference play.
