A new state plan to spend $2 billion on school facilities is a step toward alleviating districts’ reliance on local property taxes.  The bill would direct $200 million annually to public schools and cut income taxes. Some school officials say it won’t solve the problem.

Idaho governor Brad Little named Bill Hancock to be the next 5th judicial district judge.  He will be in Twin Falls serving all of southern Idaho.

A bill making its way through the Idaho House concerning bullying in schools has failed.  School districts are already required to report cases of bullying to the state once per year. The bill would have required parents also be notified.

Some Idaho lawmakers are speaking out after who they are describing as a wealthy Boise businessman claimed he said, vote against the controversial bill to implement mandatory minimum prison sentences for Fentanyl and I’ll bankroll your next opponent.  Now lawmakers are calling the action “over the top”.  As threats made the rounds in the Capitol, word got to Secretary of State Phil McGrane, who sent a letter to lobbyists warning them about the criminal penalties for bribes and threats.

For the first time in a month, Idaho’s average price for a gallon of regular gas is back above the $3 mark.  According to AAA, today’s average price is $3.05 per gallon, which is ten cents more than a week ago and six cents more than a month ago, but 64 cents cheaper than a year ago.  Meanwhile, the national average currently sits at $3.28 per gallon, which is six cents more than a week ago and 20 cents more than a month ago, but 13 cents less than a year ago.

Idaho legislators have introduced a bill proposing a mandatory minimum fine of $420 for marijuana possession. According to the proposed legislation, individuals caught with marijuana would face a non-negotiable fine, emphasizing the state's stringent stance on drug control.

31 year old Trinity James Mellott has been charged with the hit and run crash involving a pedestrian in Twin Falls early Monday.  It happened at the corner of Addison and Washington.  No word on the condition of the victim.
