Wild Fires continue to burn in Idaho. Officials issued an evacuation order in Grandjean and parts of Stanley as the Wapiti Fire spreads north toward Stanley Lake. The Flat Fire is in Boise County about 1.5 miles from Pioneerville and has burned an estimated at 3,734 acres. It is roughly 61% contained. As of Aug. 25 the complex fire has burned a total of 45,992 acres collectively. The fire is located about nine miles east of Garden Valley. The Limepoint Fire is north of Oxbow Dam in Adams County and is reported to be 32,600 Acres.
In court today is day one for the largest proposed grocery store merger in U.S. history. On one side are supermarket chains Kroger and Albertsons, which say their planned merger will help them compete against rivals like Costco. On the other side are antitrust regulators, who say the merger would eliminate competition and raise grocery prices.
Every year, more Idaho districts and charters are adopting four-day weeks but that doesn’t necessarily mean students are spending fewer hours in class. An analysis showed that last school year, the amount of days Idaho students spent in class varied widely with a difference of more than seven full weeks.
Twin Falls police have arrested a 18 year old man from Jerome charging him with aggravated battery. Ricardo Fierros faces the charges in connection to the shooting that occurred at the Target Parking Lot near Chick-Fil-A that occurred last Thursday.
On Saturday afternoon, traffic was backed up on I-84 near Wendell when a semi-truck failed to maintain the lane of travel and collided with a car. It happened in the eastbound lanes. The car went into the median. Westbound lanes were stopped for about 40 minutes. Eastbound lanes blocked for 2 and a half hours.
Idaho State Police will be on Idaho roads in force this weekend looking for impaired drivers. The holiday marks the 100 deadliest days that began on Memorial Day. While Idaho has seen a decrease in fatalities compared to the same period last year statistics show that 70 lives have been lost this summer, down from 79 last summer.
