The Twin Falls Coroner has identified the couple who died in a house fire last Wednesday. 59 year old Pete George and 69 year old Carolyn George died from smoke inhalation and heat after flicking cigarettes into the fireplace.
The man charged in the death of 84 year old William Bill Eakin in September of last year was back in court yesterday. Yesterday Kevin Kuintzle appeared for his status conference and scheduling conference. He faces first degree murder charges. According to the court, the preliminary hearing delayed partly because of the lack of availability for witnesses.
A bill that would require Idaho public and school libraries to move materials deemed harmful to children, or face lawsuits, passed the Idaho House yesterday. House Bill 710 follows years of attempts by the Idaho Legislature to regulate materials deemed harmful to children in Idaho libraries. Idaho Republican House lawmakers clashed over whether there’s an issue with libraries distributing “harmful materials” to minors in a tense floor debate.
Blackfoot authorities say a man died yesterday after the homeowner shot him in what investigators believe was a home invasion. The homeowner, an elderly woman, had been injured.
The Idaho House has voted to approve House Bill 613. It would ban commercial advertising of marijuana in the State of Idaho and heads to the senate for consideration. Marijuana has been legalized in some form in most of Idaho's neighboring states.
Interstate 84 is still closed in eastern Oregon, due to a semi-truck crash yesterday. According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, all lanes of travel between Baker City and Ontario are blocked, as of 8:30 p.m. The eastbound lanes between Pendleton and Baker City are also closed.
The blm is extending seasonal motorized travel in the south hills to March 24. The area is still open to the public for non motorized use.
