The Bengals men's basketball team will be will be back on the road and return to conference play, traveling to play Portland State tomorrow at 8 and Sacramento State on Saturday, January 13th at 7 pm. Idaho State has lost to Portland State the last six meetings in a row, and 9 of their last 10. The Bengals also come into their game versus the Hornets having lost 4 of their last 5 to Sacramento State.
Yesterday, defensive effort and timely shooting led to a marquee, Quad 1 win for Boise State men's basketball. The Broncos defeated No. 17/18 Colorado State, 65-58, in front of a sold out crowd at ExtraMile Arena. The win is the second-consecutive win over an AP Top 25 team, the third-highest ranked win in program history, and continues Boise State's home-win streak to a nation-leading 22 games. Seniors Courtney Blackson and Emily Lopez each captured their first Mountain West Specialist of the Week accolade of the 2024 season following their performances in the Boise Broncos' season-opening meet, the conference announced yesterday. Blackson was named the Floor Specialist of the Week, scoring a 9.875, while Lopez was named Co-Bars Specialist of the Week after earning a 9.875 as well. The pair secured the Broncos' highest scores in their dual against Utah.
The state board of education has approved the name change for Holt Arena in Pocatello. It will now be known as the ICCU Dome. Idaho Central Credit Union has committed 6-million dollars which includes naming rights for the next 12 years.
On the scoreboard from high school varsity basketball yesterday, for the boys, Valley defeated Shoshone 52 to 19. Filer defeated Gooding 77 to 53.
For the girls, Twin Falls downed Burley 52 to 38. Filer took the win over Buhl 42 to 35. Kimberly outlasted Gooding 44 to 22.
Many of the games were canceled or rescheduled due to the weather.
On the varsity sport schedule for today, first for Boys varsity basketball, Wood River travels to Canyon Ridge, Buhl goes to Kimberly and Burley visits Mountain Home.
For the girls, Lighthouse Christian will head to Valley, Buhl goes to Filer, Castleford to Glenns Ferry and Carey boards the bus to Hansen. Rat River travels to Murtaugh, and Hagerman goes to Richfield. Gooding will visit Wendell.
