The College of Southern Idaho led for most of the game, hanging on to beat fifth-ranked Salt Lake 70-65 last night to open Scenic West Athletic Conference play.  The Golden Eagles out-shot the Bruins from the field, long range and at the free-throw line, leading by as much as 14 points in the second half.  The Golden Eagles will look to go 2-0 in conference play when they host 10th ranked Snow on Saturday at 3 p.m.


As for the CSI Women the Team opened the Scenic West Athletic Conference season with a loss to Salt Lake CC 77-67.  The Golden Eagles gave up 13 3-pointers and were out-rebounded 47-38 en route to the loss.  CSI, now 16-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play, host Snow College Saturday at 1 p.m.


The Idaho State Men's and Women's Track and Field teams are set to begin the indoor season, and 2024, with the Snake River Open from January 11-13. The meet will take place within the friendly confines of the newly christened ICCU Dome (formerly Holt Arena), which has been fully repurposed over the holiday break to serve as the Bengals' home venue for the indoor slate.


From the scoreboards yesterday, first for boys basketball, Burley downed Mountain Home 55 to 45.  Wood River downed Canyon ridge 64 to 61.  It was Kimberly 70 Buhl 46.

For the girls, Raft River outlasted Murtaugh 49 to 46.  Most other games were canceled or postponed due to the weather.


As for today’s high school varsity schedule, first for the boys basketball games, Richfield travels to Camas County.  Oakley goes to Carey, Wendell heads to Declo, Hagerman to Dietrich, Glenns Ferry will host Lighthouse Christian, Castleford goes to Hansen, Filer to Marsh Valley, Shoshone boards the bus to Raft River and Murtaugh will visit Valley.


For the Girls, Richfield heads to Camas County, Hagerman to Dietrich, Kimberly to Buhl, Mountain Home goes to Jerome,  Wendell to Oakley, Canyon Ridge visits Twin Falls and Burley heads to Wood River.
