Boise State women's basketball had a chance to erase a 13-point deficit on the final possession, but couldn't convert, falling to Nevada 58-57 Wednesday night at ExtraMile Arena.  Boise State continues MW play as it travels to Albuquerque, N.M., to face New Mexico on Jan. 6. Tipoff will occur at 2 p.m.


The Idaho State men's basketball team traveled to Denver, Colorado last night to face off with the University of Denver Pioneers in the inaugural Big Sky vs Summit League Challenge.  The Bengals could not find the touch in OT and would be outscored 18-5, dropping the contest by a final score of 95-82. The Bengals will be back in action on Saturday as they play their second game of the season in the MACU Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho against the University of Nebraska-Omaha, in their second game of the Big Sky – Summit League Challenge, and the Bengals' final non-conference game of the season. Tip will be at 6 pm.


Elsewhere in Mens college basketball, St Thomas defeated the Idaho Vandals last night 75 to 67.  For the ladies, North Dakota took the win over the Idaho State Bengals, 76 to 72. The Idaho vandals defeated the Denver Pioneers 60 to 51. 


It’s the 51st annual Snake River Elks Lodge Hoop shoot this Saturday.  Students are invited to the Minico high school where they will have 25 shots total and the winner of each age group will move on to the District Hoop Shoot on January 20th.  There is no charge to participate.


From the local hardwood yesterday, first for the boys varsity games, Lighthouse Christian took the win over Carey 60 to 56.  Buhl overpowered Declo 57 to 53.  Rockland outlasted Dietrich 65 to 51 and Valley took the win over Raft River 56 to 47.  For the girls, Murtaugh for the win over Mackay 70 to 37. 


On the varsity basketball schedule for today, first for the boys, Burley will host Preston, Twin Falls goes cross town to Canyon Ridge, Twin Falls Christian Academy travels to Hagerman and Kimberly goes to Jerome. 


For the Girls, Oakley will host Grace, Twin Falls Christian Academy will travel to Hagerman, Rimrock goes to Dietrich, Glenns Ferry will travel to Twin Falls to play Lighthouse Christian and Valley will board the bus to Murtaugh.  Shoshone will host Raft River.  Gooding goes to Wood River.
