In a look at ladies basketball from over the weekend, Dani Bayes scored a career-high 21 points and Mya Hansen added 13 to propel Boise State past New Mexico, 64-56, Saturday. Boise State will have a week until it welcomes San Diego State to ExtraMile Arena on Jan. 1.

For the men from Boise State, O'Mar Stanley was 7-of-8 from the line in clutch situations as Boise State rallied from a six-point deficit with 6:34 remaining to open Mountain West play with a 78-69 victory, Friday at San Jose State.  Tomorrow, Boise State hosts Colorado State at ExtraMile Arena.


The Idaho State men's basketball team traveled up the road to the MACU Center in Idaho Falls Saturday night to face off with the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks in both team's final games as part of the inaugural Big Sky vs Summit League Challenge.  The final score, Idaho State 63 to Omaha 62.  The Bengal men's basketball team will hit the road for their next two games. They will be traveling to Portland, Oregon to face off with the Portland State Vikings on Thursday, January 11th at 8 PM, followed by their matchup with Sacramento State in Sacramento, California on Saturday, January 13th at 7 PM.


Elsewhere for the men, Montana defeated Northwest Nazarene 67 to 55.  For the women, the Idaho vandals downed Chicago state 80 to 52. 


All 13 players suited up for the game Friday night scored for the CSI Women's Basketball en route to a 101-66 win over the Utah All Stars in the Golden Eagles last non-conference game before Scenic West Athletic Conference action begins.  CSI, 16-3 overall, hosts Salt Lake Community college Wednesday to open its SWAC schedule.


Boise State kicker Jonah Dalmas has his name sitting atop the kicking categories in the Broncos' record book. Now he is setting his sights on the Mountain West and NCAA record books, announcing Friday that he will return for one more season on The Blue in 2024.

Could Boise State land the college football player named the top recruit in the nation by ESPN last year?  The Broncos are “the favorite” to land quarterback Malachi Nelson.  Nelson played for the University of Southern California last year — but decided to leave the school and transfer. He only took four snaps as QB for USC last year as a Freshman.  He will visit Boise on a recruiting visit.   If Nelson lands on the Blue Turf, he could play alongside one of the nation’s top running backs, Ashton Jeanty, who decided to stay in Boise even though larger programs dangled big money in front of him.


The University of Idaho athletics department has released an updated statement regarding the investigation into allegations against volleyball team's head coach.  They range from emotional and physical abuse of players, pushing injured players to train against medical advice, body shaming, and making offensive and inappropriate comments about members of the team.  The university's statement reads quote "the University of Idaho is deeply concerned about the allegations brought by some members of the women's volleyball team against their coach, Chris Gonzalez. As a result, an investigation started in November around legal issues, and has been expanded to include climate and culture concerns."


From the local high school basketball games from over the weekend, for the boys, Camas County victors over Garden Valley 78 to 61.  Butte County downed Dietrich 65 to 44.  Gooding defeated Weiser 66 to 46.  Minico downed Nampa 47 to 38.  Murtaugh took the win over Richfield 61 to 40.  On Friday, Buhl downed Wendell 75 to 62.  Kimberly outlasted Homedale 66 to 52.  Glenns Ferry outlasted Notus 60 to 21.  It was Liberty Charter over Murtaugh Saturday 65 to 43.  Valley outlasted Gooding 71 to 69 and Wendell overpowered American Falls 59 to 42.  It was Bishop Kelly 85 over Burley 58.


For the girls, Minico defeated Burley 65 to 33 and Oakley for the win over Carey 43 to 25.  Jerome outlasted Twin Falls 44 to 42.  Mountain Home victors over Canyon Ridge 62 to 26 and it was Snake River 50 over Kimberly 30.  Murtaugh outlasted Liberty Charter 56 to 36 and it was Butte County 47 over Valley 33.


Onto the local high school varsity basketball schedule for today, for the girls, Hansen will board the bus and head to Castleford, Declo goes to Filer and Wendell will host Carey.  There are no local boys games scheduled today.
