The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team outscored Western Wyoming 37-30 in the second half to pull away and get the 82-71 non-conference win yesterday. CSI, now 10-3 overall, travel to Helena, Mont., Friday and Saturday to play Carroll College JV and Rocky Mountain JV.


Former Boise State Bronco and current Dallas Cowboy Demarcus Lawrence has been nominated for the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. Lawrence, an All-American at Boise State and All-Pro in Dallas, is the Cowboys' representative for this season's award. In 2014, he was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft, going to the Dallas Cowboys with the 34th overall pick.


In college basketball action for the men, last night Fresno state defeated the Idaho State Bengals 79 to 67. Boise State took the win over North Texas 69 to 64. The Idaho Vandals were victors over the Pacific Tigers 83 to 53.


On to the local varsity basketball scoreboard from yesterday first for the boys, Hagerman took the win over the Sun Valley Community School 64 to 28. Butte County took the win over Richfield 57 to 7. Firth squeaked by Declo 47 to 46. Skyline overpowered Canyon Ridge 73 to 66.


For the girls, Oakley took the win over Castleford 49 to 18. It was Jerome 65 Minico 62. Mountain Home defeated Burley 42 to 18. Kimberly outlasted Homedale 46 to 18. It was Snake River 58 over Filer’s 35.


Looking at today’s high school varsity schedule, first for the boys. Butte County will travel to Valley, Hagerman travels to Victory Charter, Camas County will host Rockland, Burley travels to Century. Dietrich heads to Hansen. Minico goes to Mountain Home. Rimrock goes to Murtaugh. Jerome will be in Nampa, Declo goes to Raft River. Glenns Ferry goes to Shoshone. Gooding goes to Wendell and Buhl heads to Wood River.


There are no local games for the girls.
