Sports 2/2/24


The Bengals men's basketball team found themselves traveling to Greeley, Colorado last night for a date with one of the top teams in the conference, Northern Colorado.  The Bengals took a loss with a score of 91 to 86.  That’s after 2 overtimes.  The team will wrap their four-game road trip in Flagstaff, Arizona tomorrow as the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks will host the Bengals for tip-off at 2 pm.


Meanwhile the lady Bengals defended their excellent Reed Gym Record last night, taking down the Northern Colorado Bears 76-56.


In other college games yesterday in other mens games, the Montana Grizzlies defeated the Idaho Vandals 73 to 70.  The ladies also lost their game against Montana 79 to 68. 

Yesterday the College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team fell to Scottsdale 11-3 and then bounced back to take game two 6-3 in non-conference play. CSI, 5-3, play at Central Arizona next week.


On the High School varsity games, first for girls district action, it was Dietrich 51 Richfield 33. The Blue Devils advance to the semi-finals on February 9th. They will play the winner of Richfield/Hagerman.  Richfield will play Hagerman on February 6th in a loser-out game at Gooding High School. Tip-off is set for 7:00.


In 1Ada Snake River conference action, Murtaugh defeated Valley 73 to 61.  Valley is back in action tonight in a loser-out game against Glenns Ferry. Tipoff is set for 7:30 from Canyon Ridge High School.


Oakley took the win over Raft River 42 to 38.  Oakley is heading back to the district championship with the win. They will take on the Murtaugh Red Devils at the College of Southern Idaho on February 6th. Tip-off set for 7:30.  Raft River will play Carey in a loser-out game tonight at Canyon Ridge High School. Tip-off set for 6:00.


Carey took the win over Hansen, 52 to 42.  The Panthers stay alive in the tournament with the win. They will play in a loser-out game tonight against Raft River. Tip-off is set for 6:00 from Canyon Ridge High School.  The Hansen Huskies are eliminated with the loss.


Glenns Ferry took the win over Shoshone 53 to 47.  The Pilots stay alive in the tournament. They will play in a loser-out game tonight against the Valley Vikings. Tipoff is set for 7:30 from Canyon Ridge High School.  Meanwhile, the Shoshone Indians are eliminated with the loss.


For the Boys, Burley Defeated Mountain Home 53 to 50.  Canyon Ridge for the win over Wood River 45 to 42.  Minico downed Jerome 57 to 40 and Twin Falls victors over Century 63 to 42. 


On the schedule for this weekend for the boys, Raft River travels to Butte County, Grace Lutheran will visit Richfield.  Dietrich hosts Castleford.  Buhl goes to Gooding.  Kimberly will host Sugar Salem.  The Sun Valley Community School heads south to Shoshone and Declo will visit Wendell. 


On Saturday, Shelley will travel to Minico.  Sugar Salem visits Filer and Twin Falls will be on the road to Century.  American Falls boards the bus to Gooding and the Glenns Ferry Murtaugh game has been postponed.
