Tatum Thompson was recognized as the Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference announced yesterday. Thompson becomes the first Boise State Bronco to receive the recognition since teammate Elodie Lalotte took home the award on Nov. 21, 2022. Idaho State women's basketball has announced the date for the 2024 'Big 50' celebration honoring the 50th anniversary of women's basketball becoming a varsity sport at Idaho State University. The Date for the event is set for October 26, 2024 coinciding with the home football game against Sacramento State that same day.
The district playoffs for Girls High School varsity basketball is progressing. Last night the Declo Hornets hosted the Wendell Trojans. Declo took the win with a 58 to 27 score. Another game is set for tomorrow at Declo high school with a 7 pm tipoff. Elsewhere Kimberly defeated Gooding 62 to 43.
For the boys, it was Hagerman 59 Castleford 57. Wendell took the win over the Sun Valley Community School 49 to 18. Burley downed Caldwell 56 to 49. Camas County for the win over Dietrich 80 to 53, Murtaugh overpowered Hansen 60 to 51 and it was Oakley 64 Shoshone 21.
On the sports schedule for today, for boys varsity basketball, the Sun Valley Community School travels to Declo, Wendell goes to Buhl, Kimberly to Filer and Richfield to Hagerman.
For the girls, district playoffs, Valley and Raft River will meet at the college of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Burley will visit Jerome, Wood River travels to Mountain Home, Hagerman and Richfield will meet in Gooding. Oakley and Murtaugh will meet at the College of Southern Idaho.
