Sports 5/7/24


The second-seeded College of Southern Idaho Softball Team used a big offensive day to run rule third-seeded Snow College 16-8 Monday in its opening game of the Region 18 Tournament.  The Golden Eagles pounded out 15 hits, including four home runs, and had five walks.  CSI will take on top-seeded Salt Lake CC at noon in the undefeated game today.



In local high school softball district games yesterday, in the best 2 out of 3, Wendell defeated Declo 16 to 13.  Wendell now leads 1 to 0.  The two teams will meet again in Declo at 4 p.m. tomorrow.  The winner of the conference will play the runner up of the District V 2A South East Idaho Conference in a state play-in game at 1 p.m. on Saturday at OK Ward Field in Pocatello. 



Due to the high wind in the forecast for today, the 3A and 4A baseball and softball district tournament games have been pushed back, shuffling the district tournament schedules.

In 4A play tomorrow in elimination games, Canyon Ridge will play Wood River at 4.  Mountain Home takes on Burley at 4:30. 



In 3A action, Buhl plays Gooding at 5.  The Winner will advance to state play in with the loser eliminated. 



As far as softball goes, for tomorrow, with the looser eliminated, Minico will play Jerome at 4.  Canyon Ridge takes on Burley at 4. 



n 3A softball games at the Gooding High School tomorrow, Filer takes on Kimberly in the elimination round.  The winner will play Gooding.
