The debate over Idaho abortion laws intensifies. The Supreme court hearing oral arguments as they consider whether the state's abortion laws violate the federal law. So far it seems the justices are split. Locally some doctors say they would like some reassurance as providers that if someone disagreed with our judgment, they are not going to prosecute.
The Biden administration said that it reached a preliminary agreement with Idaho-based semiconductor manufacturer Micron, the latest in a series of investments through the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act. President Biden will travel today to Syracuse, N.Y., where he will tout the benefits of the agreement with Micron, which includes up to $6.1 billion in federal funding.
Tomorrow is the deadline to pre-register to vote using the online voter registration system ahead of the May 21st primary election. Following the deadline, eligible voters may register in-person at polling places during early voting or on Election Day. Voters can register at VoteIdaho.gov or by visiting their county elections office. Requests for absentee ballots are accepted until May 10th, provided registration is completed by April 26th.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency this week announced it is awarding $56.5 million in Solar For All grants to Idaho. The Bonneville Environmental Foundation, will deliver solar energy to Idaho residents with the funding. The funding is part of the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which was created under President Joe Biden to lower energy costs and create jobs.
Supporters of the open primaries ballot initiative in Idaho are offering voters one last chance to sign their petition before next week’s May 1 deadline to submit signatures for verification. Members of the coalition are organizing “last chance to sign day” events in 20 different Idaho towns and communities on Saturday.
Work is expected to resume at the collapsed hanger at the Boise airport. OSHA said they are returning the site back to the property owner and contractor. It's been almost three months since the Jackson Jet Center hangar under construction collapsed on Jan. 31, killing three and injuring nine others.
