Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador is suing to block the Idahoans for Open Primaries initiative, a ballot initiative that would open Idaho’s primary elections and revamp how Idahoans cast votes in the state’s primary and general elections. Labrador’s lawsuit alleges the initiative was deceptively pitched as an open primary initiative and violates the Idaho Constitution’s requirement that laws address a single subject.

It’s been two years in the making and the deadline is nearing for the Albertsons Kroger merger.  Albertsons continue to report positive financial results but down a bit from a year ago.  The merger agreement expires in October unless both companies choose to continue pressing forward. If they don’t, Albertsons would pocket $600-million from Kroger.

Here is an advisory for motorists this morning.  The city of Twin Falls say they are closing Elizabeth Boulevard from Morningside Drive to Madrona street today as part of the Hankins Pressure Zone Project.  The roadway should be open tomorrow.

The University of Idaho has run up more than $3.9 million in University of Phoenix-related costs so far this year.  The biggest bills, $1.7 million, came an international law firm hired to navigate federal laws.  And now, after a year and more than $14.2 million in expenses, the $685 million bid to absorb the nation’s largest for-profit online university remains in jeopardy. Phoenix now has the go-ahead to explore other options, although its owners have agreed to pay fees that could cover most of all of the U of I’s upfront costs.

Blaine county authorities say they have arrested a 51 year old Shoshone resident on drug charges.  David Alexander Kropp was taken into custody after a drug dog alerted on a vehicle where Meth was found.  Bond was set at 15-thousand dollars.
