If your travels normally take you along Highway 93 between Jerome and Twin Falls, you may want to consider a different route today and tomorrow.  There will be one lane of travel for two miles starting at the Highway 25 junction.  Traffic will be delayed and will need to follow a pilot car.



A motorcycle rider died following a crash yesterday evening in Shoshone.  Police say it happened just before 5 when the motorcycle driven by a 65 year old man was southbound on South Cherry Street struck a vehicle traveling on West C Street driven by a 19 year old female. 



On the gas watch, this morning, Idaho drivers are seeing little change at the pumps, with the average price for regular gasoline dropping two cents after rising two cents last week.  According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $3.59.



As wildfire conditions persist in Idaho, land management agencies in the Payette Fire Restrictions Area are preparing to implement stage one fire restrictions on Friday with plans to keep the restrictions in effect until October 1.   The area covered by the order includes the Payette National Forest excluding the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.



Crews fighting the Texas Fire burning east of Kendrick in Latah County report that the fire is 60% contained.  200 firefighters were fighting the human-caused fire in North Idaho that has shrunk to 1,565 acres.  The Bench Lake fire burning near Redfish Lake is 23% contained and has burned 2567 acres.



Implementing the ranked-choice voting component of the open primaries ballot initiative that will be up for a vote in Idaho’s Nov. 5 general election could cost the state $25 million to $40 million if the state needs to replace its vote tabulation systems.  Members of the Open Primaries coalition say that low-cost software that has been used in Utah is available to be used in Idaho.



Sunday afternoon the Big Wood River canal company was notified of a breach at the Milner Canal.  Crews began working to repair the damage possibly caused by a badger.  Yesterday the breach was contained and more water is expected to be released today.

Thursday:  A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 96. South wind 6 to 13 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
